MetFest
Following pandemic restrictions, The Met threw a grand re-opening party, formally welcoming back the community and honoring artists. This included special programs, performances, art-making activities and behind-the-scenes tours. As frequent collaborators with the Met, we were invited to conceive an interactive activity for patrons. Our central idea: encourage the public to re-discover the Met through their own lens.
Work done while at ThoughtMatter
Our team created hundreds of handheld frames that MetFest attendees could use to interface with the museum’s collection. This enabled them to focus on reframing the art and the environment to create new art of their own.
The ask: to choose something big, small or in-between that sparks curiosity. Maybe it’s a small detail from your favorite painting, or the way the light hits the marble staircase. The goal is to encourage the democratization of institution by asking visitors to define what’s important to them.
